People can be mean. Even when you post a personal story, some people have no qualms leaving comments that’ll be detrimental to your mental health. It makes you wonder; what happened to basic human decency?

This is one of the reasons why I created a newsletter that’s focused on mental health. Learn how to maintain good mental health despite all the negative energy online

Actual "LOL" on the line "Can’t talk, Richard. Eating lobsters." Brilliant. Good for you -- taking on the comments section and living to tell the tale!

I sent your essay to an unctuous professor of drinking history at Brock University who feels that his background knowledge about historical trends in alcohol consumption trumps just about everything …. that the current research suggesting new “guidelines” for Canadians is pure bunk. Unfortunately he is frequently called as an expert in the G&M, CBC etc. Let’s just say he didn’t like receiving your essay which was antithetical to his knowledge base.

He sent me a list of publications/books to read after a long diatribe about why he is right. Amazingly and willfully blind to the many fine observations you made in your essay.
