A Brief Chase Check-In
And welcome to all new subscribers
Welcome to all the kind new subscribers of late, many by way of musician Dan Mangan and his spectacular Reality Shield newsletter — chockablock with songs, essays, tutorials, and insight. I want to ensure you new folks stick around by showing you what kind of stuff is coming.
As I reach a sobriety milestone this week, and now hurriedly prepare for a month-long writing residency in France (well la-di-da), I want to post a quickie to let you know there’s more on the way. I’ve been extremely busy, and for the first time in years, with all things good.
I keep sticky notes of story ideas scattered around the house, and of those I can actually find, there are some I want to write soon, in between France residency updates.
Thanks again for your Substack followings and your subscriptions to The Chase. It means a lot to me. And many thanks for those who donate to keep a writer above water. Give that part a whirl if you can.
Coming soon:
1) From a sobering centre mat to a castle in the South of France: One fucked-up fairytale
2) I kinda had a heart attack (spoiler alert: I didn’t die)
3) My day of endurance with Anthony Bourdain
4) The doctors working hard to crack alcoholism’s ominous code
5) Your all-time favourite lyricist? I’m going with Joe Henry. And here’s why.
Of course, if there’s any story stuff you’d like to see, drop me a line in the comment section. We’re in this together, right?

These are great story teasers - I can't wait for all of them! "Coming up next time on... the Chase!"
